Despite not being a music major, continuing to perform has been a top priority for me. I love working hard to master a solo, the final pages of drill for a marching band show, or even the difficult task of playing the piccolo consistently in tune. As Kappa Kappa Psi’s Historian, I worked hard to present our chapter and band programs in the best light possible. During my first semester with the position, I increased our Facebook pages likes by 125 and increased our reach by 230%. This allowed us to share our love of music and events with a greater audience. Through this, more students on campus knew that Psi is the honorary band fraternity; we had name recognition, which had not really existed outside of the music department. I shared advertisements about all of our band’s upcoming performances or created promotional materials if the department had not. We were able to share fundraising and service ideas with other chapters as well. One of my last posts as Historian reached over 3,600 people, had 130 clicks, and 155 reactions despite being a campus of 1,500 students and a chapter of about 21 brothers. During my spring semester I did an off campus program in New York City where I interned in the book publishing field, took classes, and worked on an independent project. When my chapter was not able to fill the position in my absence, I elected to continue to assist as Historian in any way I could. I continued to update our social media pages and helped write our winning Governor’s Cup
