("A Quote) When I sit back and think of all the ways band has changed my life for the better, I realize it was not just the music, but also those who are in the band. Wirt County Tiger Marching Band was literally my go to for the longest time, especially after my parents split up, the only people I wanted to talk to were those in band. I started band when I was in the fifth grade and I played a clarinet for about two weeks and realized that I had made the biggest error thinkable. After two weeks passed I then tried out the trumpet and
Marching band; copious amounts of people scoff at the sound of those words. I often hear students commenting on how easy marching band is, how we don’t train like the football players do. At Anderson High School, that’s not the case, the marching band trains for just as long. As a band of over 125 individuals, it takes determination, pride, and confidence to achieve the goals we have set forth to accomplish. As a leader of the saxophone section, I know what it’s like to face failure, to overcome and turn it into success and to march on with confidence.
Band allows for me to relax and release myself, my emotions, and suchlike into an art form that I get to share with my band. Life wouldn’t be life without band. I personally dislike when we mistreat each other, but that’s what happens in families and we come together in the
Every member of a marching band is important, but some may argue that the drum majors are the most important people in the band that are a part of the student body. Drum majors are mainly responsible for the togetherness of the band, whether through tempo on the field or street, or the overall togetherness as a band community. Specifically for the senior drum major, it is important that the candidate has the ability to carry out all duties such as instruction and conducting, a prideful and passionate spirit for the band, and past experience of leadership to look back on to continue to lead well. I firmly believe that since being the junior drum major, my ability, pride, and experience have only improved and that I am the best candidate for
The reason why I want to be in Advanced Band is so I can learn to be a better musician and to grow to be the best musician I can possibly be. I am committed to band and will always have my schedule free for band as it means a lot to me. I will attend all extra rehearsals outside of the school day. I will do this by prioritizing Band which means skipping extra-curricular classes to attend rehearsals. I will always have time for rehearsals and will work with my schedule to have time for rehearsals.
Despite not being a music major, continuing to perform has been a top priority for me. I love working hard to master a solo, the final pages of drill for a marching band show, or even the difficult task of playing the piccolo consistently in tune. I have applied for opportunities that will both challenge me and give me an extra chance to perform more music each year such as through the Michigan Intercollegiate Honors Band or Psi’s NCD Intercollegiate Band. While classes and other extracurriculars certainly keep me busy, band has always been an activity I can count on to be a fun, creative outlet that I can enjoy with friends. I was lucky to come from a strong high school band program – our district valued the music programs and the community
During the marching band season, I have had many opportunities to step up and assist others. Working as a host for bands helped me learn how to communicate well and with kindness with students and directors from different schools. Working with people from different schools helped me branch out and gain more confidence when talking to others. Working as a runner during marching band and other band competitions helped me with my organizational skills by keeping the papers and voice recorders organized for the right judges. The community band is another way that I participate in the community.
I've been playing piano since 3rd grade and alto saxophone since 5th. I wasn't sure about being in band when I was younger because I thought that it would take too much of my study time and I just wasn't ready. I joined the following year and I worked hard to start from Beginner Band and now I’m in Symphonic Band 1. Band has taught me a lot of things like teamwork, how to responsible for my instrument, it helped me to learn how to manage my time and really showed me what it meant to be part of a team.
Finally was band. I may have fell at a competition but we don't talk about that. I went through this routine day in and day out, every day, all day, for my entire junior year. But there was one day that was different. Tuesday, I stayed at school until 3 in the afternoon, and headed up to what the school calls
I struggled in the beginning because I couldn’t find any love towards band and my instrument. But as my journey progressed I started to find the joy and the art in band. I might have taken 6 years for that to happen, but it was worth it because I couldn’t imagine my life without band. Band has taught me how to challenge myself and believe in my own abilities as a musician. It has also taught me how to be apart of a team and what it means to be responsible for my own part in activities.
Concert 2 is one of the lowest bands in the program. When I first entered the program, I had wanted to quit. However, after a while, I grew to really enjoy band. I started practicing more and put in more effort with what I did. I was first chair in concert 2, which is the principal player.
Joining band had an immense and almost immediate impact on my life. Before being in band I had never had a talent that I felt completely confident in. I enjoyed practicing and spent many hours trying to improve my musical ability. In
My life has been full of many opportunities to participate in things that I love and these opportunities have taught me fabulous lessons. Through my persistent hard work in the Clark high school marching band I have been very fortunate to learn important lessons about positivity, service and respect. Being in my high school’s marching band has drastically changed my life for the better. I would not have made it through all the curve-balls that school has thrown at me had it not been for the marching band, which taught me to find the positive in any and every situation. Working out and making countless mistakes in the scorching Texas heat does not seem like the ideal place to learn about positivity, however that is exactly what it is.
I also enjoy going to the school’s band functions and listening to the music, as well as supporting my friends in band. Scouting has helped me out a lot in my schooling, as it helps me focus my energy to
Band has given me tons of friends and lessons in life that I will remember and carry on with me
