The Life of Marilyn Monroe Do you know a Norma Jeane Mortenson? What about a Norma Mortenson or a Norma Jeane Baker? Those are her maiden and married names. She changed her name to Marilyn Monroe, when she went into the show business. She was born on June 1, 1926 in the Los Angeles County Hospital in California. She also died at her home in Los Angeles on August 5, 1962. She was only 36 years-old when she died of a drug overdose, but however rumors told differently. What she did in her very short life is an inspiration. I’m not just talking about her being a sex symbol in the show business, but about how she overcame her difficult childhood, and how she died a shining star. This is Marilyn Monroe. Her tummy isn’t flat, her thighs touch, her arms aren’t tightly toned, she has stretch marks, and her boobs aren’t perky. Yet she is known as one of the most beautiful women in history.
