My creative project is an independent lifestyle magazine. It would be an independent magazine because the content, appearance, modes of production, and the modes of distribution will be different from a mainstream magazine (Atton, 2002). Firstly my magazine will differ in its content, because my magazine will only focus on one category of interest. I will base the category on the popularity and will conduct a research upon this. Aesthetically it will be different from a mainstream magazine, as it will challenge existing codes and convention of mainstream magazines. In the same way the mode of production will be distinct from mainstream magazine in the sense that this magazine will be student lead.
The factor that inspired me to carry out this creative project is because of current issues surrounding students and getting work experience. Student led websites and blogs are becoming quite prevalent, however student led magazines is scarce. The

In order for the magazine to look professional, I will be looking into the technical aspects and theories of producing a magazine. I will also be looking into critical theories I will use in order to develop the content and the conceptualisation of my magazine; I will be focusing on the theories of the male and female gaze, the commodity culture, media convergence and branding.
In order to evaluate my creative project, I will document what factors I took into consideration while I was conceptualizing the magazine and justifying them accordingly with research.
