Throughout life, everyone is faced with obstacles, and suffering which either hinder them from moving forward or shape them to becoming the person they were destined to be. Within the last year I have been through a great deal of suffering which has completed transformed not only me as an individual, but also, my character; It has also enhanced certain beliefs, and values that I have held prior to going through what I had overcome. I have learned and strongly believe to be a good leader one has to know how they want to lead their people and what sort of mindset they need their people to have. Also, using my guiding values which include; empathy, motivation, social welfare of followers, being a role model, humility, and most importantly being an agent of change. To lead an organization, it is important to understand another person’s situation. Also, being able to be open-minded to other opinions, being empathetic in a leadership role will allow me to not only share the feeling of my followers but also enables me to be more open to hearing their ideas and their inputs. Which can allow my followers to not fear my authority, but trust me as a leader. Motivation, as I have stated earlier in my paper, is a highly important quality to me developing into a leader, being able to motivate my employees is also motivation for myself. Every day we seek to find motivation in something, whether it is life itself or a task at hand to continue on. It is essential, without motivation or a purpose, we are lost and solely doing things for pleasure with no end goal in mind. That is, should primary goal for any board members. It is also important that I have board members who can really help the success of my organization and share similar goals. My board members should be able to help me in areas where I am not so strong. Managing board members means a high level of communication, giving board members and staff an open door policy is a way of communicating with one another. Having a monthly or weekly meetings to keep the board members updated and to discuss important topics of the organization.
