Regarding strengths, I realized that I have the ability to communicate personal feelings through writing. As I move into the future, I intend to fine-tune these competences. I however noted that I have challenges in relation to run-on sentences; I tend to write long sentences that are difficult to understand. By seeking the instructor’s guidance and consulting relevant sources, I plan to methodically eradicate this writing weakness. The English 1010 course has thus enabled me to identify personal writing strengths and weaknesses that I plan to address as time goes
Western Washington has a diverse and well trained group of writing centers. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit Central Washington University, Highline Community College, Shoreline Community College, Tacoma Community College and University of Washington Bothell . The goal was to find out what the writing centers are using for training, and how the centers operated. The four centers I visited, and the one center I interviewed, were extremely welcoming and have a diverse variety of extensive training programs. Observations of these writing centers enlightened me with an overwhelming amount of information.
Preparation is the key to successfully navigating any writing assignment. Thus far, I have found this class to be beneficial in this regard. To start, the readings that we have discussed have been very stimulating from a creative standpoint. This is important since imagination is necessary to properly convey one’s thoughts and feelings. Likewise, the responses and subsequent class discussions have further served to promote abstract and analytical thinking.
After reading the first chapter, writing with Style, from “Thinking Well”, by John R. Trimble, he made it seem as if he was writing about my writing when he explained a novice writer. Trimble explains how a novice writer would write by giving examples of how their style of writing looks like. For example, Trimble explains how new writers unconsciously write and how they are not aware of their egocentrism. He states what a novice would have to achieve objectivity, empathy, courtesy and social sensitivity in order for him to have a readable style. Trimble then discusses what makes a veteran writer and how their thinking process reflects their writing situation.

I have taken some classes on writing and have improved my writing drastically over the years. As with everything, there is plenty to improve on. My high school was a college preparatory school, so we did countless papers. One of my strengths is to be able to come up with a paper fairly quickly, but I do need to improve in some areas. Things I should improve on are word choice and sentence fluency.
One unique thing in my writing process is the amount of time on proofreading that I spend on proofreading because it is more than the time that used in any other part of the writing process. Generally, I do not pay attention to spelling and grammar when I compose essays; thus, my first drafts typically contain abundant spelling and grammar mistakes no matter writing in English or my mother language. Due to this behavior, I rely on some online spelling check tools to ensure the readability of my writing assignments. One of my unique needs as I begin a writing assignment is that I prefer to write in the late night. I find that quality and of essays that I composed at midnight are better than any paper that I created in the daytime.

It looked interesting to me and we can add more detailing in the notes by using this method. No, it was not tough for me but have to consider detailings about it. So, I did refer the text for examples. I tried to do all three methods but, out of all three formal outline method is easy to use for me.
I have never been good at writing, nor have I ever enjoyed writing. Writing is never something that has been easy for me. However, after taking this class, I have come to have a greater appreciation for writing. I have learned that in writing, it is not what you say, but rather how you say it. There are several important writing techniques and lessons I have learned in this class that aide in improving the “how”.

I enjoy writing to the extent, I would keep journals at hand in case I have an idea for a poem. It takes me time to think and formulate ideas, I imagine I am not alone. I actually started writing and drawing at twelve years old. When I was twelve I thought all poetry had to rhyme, since I was raised with the stories from the Cat in the Hat. As time went on, I avoided reading about other poets because I thought there work would influence my writing in a negative way.
