I am most attracted to Loma Linda University’s mission to make man whole and continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and its commitment to faith and science. As a Seventh-day Adventist christian, the motto to make man whole has never been more personal than it is now. As I grow in my experience as a christian, to further the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus continues to take center stage. This mission and an understanding of the need for whole person care is something I seek to demonstrate and encourage through my profession as a nurse and involvement in my community.
As a prospective member of the Masters of Arts in History program at Liberty University I hope to accomplish several things. I am currently serving as a high school history teacher and this program will benefit both my students and myself alike in the foreseeable future. This includes reaching the goals of earning my master’s degree which will result in a higher level of professional knowledge in my content area, while increasing my income simultaneously. This is not the only positive factor, Liberty’s program will also contribute directly to growth in regards to my relationship with Jesus Christ.
I see myself being an engaged member of the WCU and Brinson Honors College community by being involved in community service opportunities, becoming a member of leadership organizations, and taking advantage of opportunities to study and serve in a different country or to participate in undergraduate studies. I plan to be engaged in the WCU community by being involved in all that I can be involved in. Specifically, I hope to become involved in at least one of the faith-based groups on campus, such as the Baptist Student Fellowship at WCU or the Campus Crusade for Christ. Becoming involved in faith-based organizations is important to me and will allow me to love God and love people better by learning more about God and participating in service projects that will share his love and truth. Additionally, I want to join a local Church family, where I hope to serve in various aspects of the Church, especially those that involve children, something that I am passionate about.
Attending New York University has been my dream, my end-all-be-all, for some time now. There are countless reasons why NYU would be an amazing fit for me and why I would be an amazing fit for NYU. I consider science to be a lifestyle for me, rather than an interest. As a student at NYU, I would be able to let my passion for science flourish, considering NYU is one of the top research colleges in the world. Specifically within in science, I am interested in neurology and genetics.
I have always retained a keen passion in learning about medicine and dreamed about becoming a pediatrician. As I learned more about NYU, I fell more in love with the university, aspiring to one day step into the halls of the school and make my mark. I believe it was the perfect place for me to start my pre-medical studies into one day becoming a doctor. When I first ventured in and around NYU in New York City, my eyes sparkled at the marvel of the campus. It is not one's typical campus.
I always knew NYU was meant for me. After getting rejected as a first-time freshman, I did not get easily discouraged, instead, I devoted two amazing learning years to nursing prerequisites at Cypress College, viewing this setback as an opportunity for growth and improvement in all aspects of my life. As I wrap up my journey at community college to take the next step in my life, I ask myself, “How will I be able to make a difference in healthcare and make efforts to positively change my community?” As a first-generation college student who's been surrounded by Hispanics throughout my life, I know how stubborn and scared my community is to get the medical attention they need and deserve. Working as a bilingual nursing assistant, I have created
I am passionate about exploring the unusual, and eclectic , parts of popular culture. NYU was never somewhere I grew up striving for; I had spent so much time thinking that in order to foster my needs as learner, and creator, I needed a "small school. " My preconceived notions of large, and high-achieving academic schools, were completely obliterated as soon as I set foot in Washington Square Park. NYU exemplifies difference, and seemed to embrace every facet of person equally: an extremely diverse campus, an incredible array of clubs and campus-life activities, and individual schools garnering to any students needs.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application for the doctoral program at Florida Atlantic University. My interest in education began at a young age out of necessity. My upbringing was humble, and I was fortunate to have a healthy environment conducive to my education. However, that was the extent of my parents’ support.
My interest in Japanese arts and culture has propelled me to live in Tokyo during my gap year between high school and college. Staying with a local family, I explored many aspects of Japanese culture not only by auditing at local high schools but also by learning Japanese traditional art style, wood printmaking. My stay at Tokyo has later persuaded me to return to Tokyo after graduation. While at Penn, I continued my exploration through joining the Japanese Student Society and taking advanced Japanese language courses. As someone who foresees herself pursuing a career in Tokyo after graduation, I was very pleased to learn of the Global Internship Program (GIP) in Tokyo from my Japanese professor.
Membership in Ball State University's Honors College presents an opportunity for me to be surrounded by peers who share a similar commitment to academic excellence. I am eager to build beneficial connections with like-minded students who take their education seriously. Furthermore, I look forward to interacting with professors who will challenge me to grow to my full potential. I believe that this stimulating and rigorous academic environment will push me to excel academically and personally.
Serving as the student advisor for the 56th President’s Leadership Class has given me a chance to express my passion of developing others. At the same time I have been able to instill the value of loving what you do. I never thought, however, that I could turn this passion into a career. While working in the Student Affairs department at The University of Oklahoma, I have been able to simultaneously observe the adults who work in the office. The employees in OU’s Student Affairs department live out my passions day in and day out.
When I visited NYU, I fell deeply in love with both its tangible and intangible qualities: the location, the endless possibilities, the faculty and diverse student body, the passion of students, the spirit of challenge, and the sense of collaboration. The violet banners scattered around New York City have become a beacon of inspiration to me. Given my proximity to the city and my fascination with the urban lifestyle, I spent a lot of my time growing up in New York City. I was enraptured by it- the diversity of people that seemed to be living in a dream, the concentration of prestigious organizations in one place. NYU’s location will provide me with countless opportunities, while its academics will push me to think more creatively and globally,
From a very young age I have been interesting in attending Indiana University. My father continued his college education at IU and has instilled a strong bond with our family and the school from a young age. As I grew older I became more interested in whether IU would be the right fit for me. After doing further research during my high school career I became more familiar with IU and all of the opportunities it has to offer their students. The Kelly School of Business and Maurer School of Law are the perfect resources to continue my educations and fulfill my ambitions of obtaining a JD/MBA.
NYU at New York city has always been a center for academic excellence. Its reputation transcends international borders and is redefining the way we perceive education. The campus is ideally located in the heart of the city around central park, where I can get to experience a diverse, metropolitan environment while never having to sacrifice the convenience of a modern campus. I plan on pursuing a major in computer science at The Tandon school of engineering and a minor in business administration at The Stern school of business, both of which are renowned for their research and academic rigor. The choice ultimately boils to down to what the student can make out of his college experience and I believe that NYU will provide me with a perfect balance
The heart of New York City is New York University. By joining the network of NYU, I will be able to study at an institution that has a long tradition of academic excellence among private universities in the United States. Additionally, I will be able to be part of an internationally recognized learning network with locations all across the globe. It would be a pleasure to study at a globally recognized university. A friend of mine who is a recent graduate from NYU College of Nursing has praised the program and conveyed to me a very positive experience.
