Seated next to a window in the airplane I had access to a vivid view of the sky. The clouds outside of the window made me feel as if I was in Heaven. In front of me was a mini TV screen which I seem not to bother with. Only thing I took account notice of that caught my eye was the large TV screen ten seating rows ahead of me. It showed how fast the airplane was moving and a map of how far we traveled from our native country, Bangladesh. Since it was my first time in the airplane, I was very anxious to get of the airplane. The AC breeze blown through my face and the lights were turned off and I fell asleep. I’m what you would call the “1.75 generation”, part of a generation consisting of those who immigrate to a new country at a young age. It is said often times that these 1.75 generation belong nowhere , essentially caught between two entirely different world and for a duration of my life, I take it they were right. After we stayed a year in Simpsonville, South Carolina we relocated to the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania. This is where my family established themselves. While I had difficulties assimilating into a new culture because of the big cultural difference which over time I adapted to. My life in America was the epitome of the quest for the American dream. I clearly remember back in 3rd grade when we used to play around the world and the teacher would flash math cards at us and whoever answered it correctly first would get to advance and the loser sits down. In the end the winner would receive a prize. My eyes were always on the prize and the prize involved made me determined to win. I would be the last student standing among my classmates. The teacher approached me with a smile in her face and I would be rewarded with a slinky! It was a very fond
