In this assignment, I will provide a brief background of my chosen nonprofit entity using evidence from their publications or any other published materials. Secondly, I will evaluate the factors, which may include economic, political, historic, cultural, institutional conditions and changes that contributed to the creation and growth (decline) of the nonprofit organization. Finally, I will justify my response. ASNC is a nonprofit agency founded by a group of parents with children on the autism spectrum in the 70’s. These families formed this society to promote supportive services, resources and improve the lives of children on the spectrum. Government often lacks development and growth (Lee, 2010). Therefore, nonprofit are forced to develop through other factors such donations or sponsorships. The factors of nonprofits has a great deal to do with its governing of boards. The state authorizes nonprofits to be governed by a least three board members (Renz, 2010). Therefore agencies should ensure the governing board is resourceful and experienced in the matters of addressing factors of culture, growth, development and other agency concerns. Polices play a huge role is the Autism Society of North Carolina. Policies changes made through the legislative office toward Medicaid determine funding for ASNC. ASNC has a Director of Public Policy; Jennifer Mahan whose role includes role includes legislative, grassroots, and one-on-one advocacy.
