There are many integral aspects that I am looking for in my future college, but the three most important ones are: excellent academics, a stellar golf team, and a well-respected business program. Wittenberg excels in all three of these categories. I am interested in attending Wittenberg's renowned campus, because it is a place I feel that I belong. The depth and variety of the programs at Wittenberg will not only allow me to pursue the courses that will further my career as a professional and as a golfer, but will also give me the space to explore avenues outside of my comfort realm. Of the nine attributes illustrated in the Wittenberg University Mission Statement, the three I feel I embody the most are: high academic achievement, physical well-being, and intellectual inquiry.

Duke University’s mission statement is what initially caught my eye. Duke presents itself to be very invested in their students’ success. Through these clubs, I would have the ability to help and positively impact the community, which is something I have greatly enjoyed doing throughout my high school career.
The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) passed by Congress in 2001 focuses attention on general education curriculum by requiring states to develop challenging academic standards. NCLB ensures that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments (Little, 2009; No Child Left Behind Act, 2002). While all core subjects are addressed under NCLB, increasing technology dominance in our society has spotlighted deficiencies in math and science. Particularly, students in the United States are not performing as well in math as students in many other developed countries (Schleicher & Davidson, 2012). Notre Dame is different than other schools because of its Catholic heritage. While I am not catholic, I have attended mass before and have this sector of Christianity to very beautiful and I have developed a great appreciation for it.
From kindergarten to high school, I have been blessed to receive a Catholic education. It has shaped and formed me as the person I am today, but also has inspired me to transition and grow into becoming a strong independent woman; ready to face challenges among our global community. My strong faith foundation has taught me that through God, all things are possible. I hope to continue my educational journey within a Jesuit academic community because I believe that it will enable me the academic freedom to practice my faith while receiving a quality education. When I toured LMU during the Open house, I realized the faculty and staff are much more driven and encouraging towards their students.
