1. Who wants a whopper? Obesity affects close to 35% of all Americans leading to 216,000 deaths annually compared to Japan where obesity affects 3.2%1. Will you be one? This is why I find it imperative that I write about how I believe fast food is a contributing factor of obesity in America and the Health issues that come along with being obese. First, I will be covering a few reasons why Americans depend on fast food. Second, I will be writing about our children and how fast food affects them, and finally I will be writing about some of the health issues that come along with the culture of fast food and obesity. 2. Obesity is a sneaky beast. No it isn’t the result of just fast food, but it’s a combination of lifestyle and dietary factors also. With American culture becoming busier and busier every year the fast food industry has capitalized on the fact that one we need food, two we need it fast, three we need it cheap3. While some people are very aware of what they are fueling their bodies with, there are still people that need to be educated on the damage regular eating of fast food can do to you. Fast foods are highly processed, full of calories, sodium, and normally fried containing to many calories and too little nutrition.

In the end it is going to come down to Americans changing their views. Stop living in a culture of excess and educating themselves. 9Because if you looked at the culture of Japan where the obesity rate is only 3.2% of the population you would find fast-food but you will not find upsizing. Maybe we need to look at other countries to see how they manage to have fast-food but stay away from obesity. We have our children to protect and teach. And that old saying that you are what you eat rings true here and can lead to death due to multiple health issues. Over 216,000 deaths have occurred annually due to obesity in adults and children10. So I ask you again who wants a
