In the United States, many kids 13 and under suffer from obesity, because of their unhealthy lifestyles and eating habits. On the news they talk about schools sending home letters to parents about how their children should lose weight. Also about different issues regarding school lunches, if they’re healthy or not. Many children are obese because they don’t eat healthy, they are too consumed in modern technology or they inherited their obesity from their parents. Children should be encouraged to eat healthy, be active; and parents should be conscious of their own weight.
Eating healthy is one of the ways children can loses weight and stay fit. On television they advertise about many different fatty and sugary foods, such as pizza, fried chicken, hamburgers, fries and much more. The electronics being advertised today are mostly to be played inside. There are game systems like PS4, Xbox, computers, and tablets. These electronics are reasons why children are becoming obese. They refuse to go out and play because they can just sit on the couch and watch television and play on their tablets. Many years ago, people could walk outside their house and see the street filled with a number of kids. Now, instead of being outside kids are at their friend’s house playing video games. Another example of kids not being active is that in schools, they are starting to take away recess. Kids need to be active in order to grow, and restricting them of that is not good. It has gotten so bad that the television show, Nickelodeon, has started a national day of play, and in order to get the kids to go play they stop showing television shows on their channel.
