The terrible and abrupt change to the PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) all around the country has caused many students, parents, and teachers to protest. In Massachusetts, students like me feel that you, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education need to get rid of PARCC. Our state has switched from MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System) to PARCC, but that decision was terrible. Students have been using MCAS since 1993, and it should not be changed. PARCC is very bad because it is a very long timed test, is on the computer, and has an excessive amount of testing. There are millions of others reasons to hate PARCC. Most other states hate PARCC, and have decided to switch back to their original state assessments. In the 2013-2014 year there were 18 states, now there are less than 11. In this time, usually a 90 to 120 minute period per session, students answer over 20 multi-part multiple choice questions, and two to three essays (open responses) on the English Language Arts tests. On the Mathematics test students must answer over 20 multi-part multiple choice questions, 10 short answer questions, and several multi-part open responses. There are too many questions, even for this long period of time. Most students get pressured because of the time constraint. This can cause students to do even poorly. Most students do not even have time to go back and check over their work. Because of the bathroom time-penalty, where your time still ticks away while you go, most students choose not to go, to not waste their much-needed time. Time tests are not a good choice, so PARCC should be
