Is It Worth It? Deciding which college to choose had to be the most stressful decision I could have ever made. I had so many things to put into consideration. I was beyond ready to depart from home, yet I was not ready to leave my family behind. Did I really want to stay home and work or go off to school? Understanding the differences between living at home with my parents and having my own place had helped me to further my decision on which college to attend. At first, I thought there were only advantages from moving away from home. I was so wrong and reality definitely hit me. I chose to go to school an hour and forty-five minutes away from hometown and also live off campus in an apartment with my best friend. That was a mistake from the beginning. Although my initial plan was to stay on campus with another best friend of mine, I thought I would benefit more from an apartment. Gas has been a major problem. Staying home I would have been down the street from school, but now I am at least 30 minutes away. I did not realize driving back and forth to school five days a week would take a toll on me as bad as it has. I knew living with a roommate would help contribute to the amount of gas being used, but I did not know it would be a disadvantage. We went from making memories to arguing like an old married couple. My best friend and I had never had arguments and now the arguments occur more than often. What friendship does not have its ups and downs? I just did not expect the apartment to affect my friendship so drastically. Somedays I wish I could go back to the summer and change my decision from getting the apartment.
