I have a great passion for the food industry: product development, nutrition and food science, I discovered my passion during the GCSE course, therefore taking it further to A-Level. The production of new products and the process taken to design them is where I hope to be in the future for my career. The passion for the subject was developed further at the University College Birmingham conference where the lectures gave me experience in the way the university learning style is presented while giving me experience on what it would be like to study the subject also showing me how the industry works. This inspired me to study further and to research more in-depth of the area, leading me to further reading around the subject with food reports issued by the food standards agency and reading around how manufacturers develop new product. The interest was further pushed with the Food Technology coursework where an existing product was to be developed and suited to a particular target group and specification both nutritionally and in physical aspects. This pushed me to want to take this to a further level and have an influence in the food industry or a restaurant career. To me I would say I have the skills of working in a team, analysis, evaluation and essay writing skills which were developed with the A-level English literature course as this requires these skills to succeed in the course.
