Throughout my time in the United States Navy, I have learned how to manage, communicate, present, teach, lead, and become a team player in adverse situations. I found these skills to be vital and translatable into any profession out there and use them in everyday life. I have selected to pursue my MBA at the University of Oregon to hone these skills and master new skills such as strategy, negotiation, and investing. I believe the Advance Strategy and Leadership specialization best aligns with my interest because it is a well-rounded specialization where one takes courses in leadership, finance, sustainability, marketing, and innovation. Regarding my long-term career goals, the specialization prepares future CEO’s with a strong cross-disciplinary approach to the MBA – I want to learn it all and develop a thorough understanding of these critical elements. I want to become a Chief Executive Officer in my lifetime and I heartily feel that the MBA from the University of Oregon can provide me with the groundwork needed to become one through its specialization. I have researched University of Oregon’s Student Organizations and noted that there is no Graduate Veterans Business Society. It would be my first objective as an MBA community member to establish one. In short, the Veteran’s Business Society will enrich veteran experiences at the Lundquist College of Business by networking, promoting, and helping veterans transition into the MBA program. In addition, the Society will not be restricted to veteran graduate students but also open to others who are willing to help and passionate about this country’s veterans. The Graduate Veterans Business Society would be a fantastic resource for veterans and would contribute to the MBA
