A transnational mindset is when one has the ability to appreciate and consider the impact of different cultures on the changes in business conduct and business trends across the world. I plan to develop this mindset as a student in the International Business program. As the world is constantly changing, the skill of being innovative and adaptive to new business techniques is invaluable. Multinational corporations not only have to understand the core concepts of business but they must also connect with others across the world and I want experience that connection. My passion for creating a larger network and understanding how to cohere with others on a global aspect will come from the courses I plan to take such as Cross-Cultural Behavior and Negotiations and Social Networking and Global Leadership. I chose Spanish because I am fascinated by Latin American Business Culture and the emerging markets in South America. Being fluent in Spanish would allow me to study abroad and do research in South America on their business practices and economy. More specifically, I want to do research in Colombia on reducing the risk of drug cartel violence on businesses and finding innovative ways to help entrepreneurs grow in the country.
