How will the Gies College of Business fit into your future goals?* Spanish painter and Surrealist icon Salvador Dali exclaimed that “intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings”. The point he’s getting across is that knowledge is important but without a driving force that allows you to push new boundaries, it’s not going to unleash your full potential. The Gies College of Business is the quintessence of fusing these two ideas together by providing their students the opportunity to enrich their education with supplementary material in an environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and leadership. From professor Raskie’s focus on signal theory and information asymmetry to professor Dyer’s concentration on risk management, there is a wide spectrum of information that I’m eager to learn. In addition to the traditional classroom learning style, I’m also a kinesthetic learner, which is why I hope to join several of the programs and organizations offered by the college. One of the clubs that caught my attention was the Illinois Business Consulting organization. I have prior consulting experience from my online business, but I wish to enhance those skills and try to apply it to local start-up companies that need our help. Furthermore, I’m interested in the study-abroad program that is offered by the college.
