The University of San Francisco MS in Financial Analysis will provide me ample opportunity to become one step closer to my short and long-term professional goals. As a current engineering technology student at Northern Illinois University participating in Division I athletics, I have learned about myself in these past couple years and what I hope to become.
With an industrial and management engineering technology degree, I have learned many applied and practical engineering principles and how to efficiently and effectively manage a business and its employees. The diverse knowledge gained in my undergrad, in conjunction with my work experience, offers me significant leverage over my future classmates and colleagues in the business field. With recent completion of accounting, calculus, statistics, data analysis, microeconomics and macroeconomics, I have learned the rudimentary aspects of business and develop a desire to build on that knowledge in graduate school. Balancing 30 hours of athletic activities per week with a full academic schedule can be difficult, but that challenge has taught me the importance of being organized and time management. Time management and organization have not only allowed me to be successful in the classroom and athletic field, but those two qualities will directly translate to graduate school and will help with achieving my professional goals. My athletic experience has also taught me how to routinely handle failure and adversity and the importance of grit, hard work and communication in overcoming those constraints. I have learned that without sufficient communication and teamwork, many problems and difficulties would remain unsolved. My experiences in Division I athletics have fortified the indispensable skills that will allow for me to be an immediate asset to USF’s graduate
