Growing up in Hawaii and attending Punahou School influenced my interest in international business. Our unique island culture is the result of generations of diverse ethnicities living in close quarters. The successful international business careers of many Punahou alumni inspired me as well. I traveled to Japan and Korea and my family hosted high school students from both Japan and China in our home. These experiences fueled my interest in international business. The unique global analysis concentration and global outreach of the Wharton School interested me. The flexibility of curriculum design and enthusiasm of the student body at the Wharton School compelled me to apply.

At the Wharton School, every student can customize their curriculum to develop and augment their chosen academic concentration. This flexibility allows students to specifically tailor their curriculum to suit their interests and educational goals. Under the guidance of the counselors at the Wharton School, I will tailor my curriculum by supplementing the Global Analysis concentration with the Business Economics and Public Policy concentration. One of my academic goals is to become fluent in two foreign languages before graduating from college. The Wharton School provides the perfect setting for me to continue my education in Japanese language and also study another language from the University of Pennsylvania’s diverse language offerings. By submatriculating, I can complete both my bachelor’s degree and MBA through the Wharton School in a shorter time span. Although I believe it is important to gain working experience in business prior to pursuing an MBA, the submatriculation program provides an attractive alternative to complete my formal education prior to beginning a career in international
