One of my ultimate goals in life is to have a career that I really love. Ever since I was a young girl I wanted to be a nurse. I knew that nurses took care of you when you were sick and helped you with anxiety or fear of being in a hospital. My passion for helping people led me to a path where I can study nursing. In 2012, I decided to go back to school after getting married and having kids. Being out of school for five years made me feel nervous about whether or not college, was something I could be able to get through. I decided that I would take the GED test and I passed. Receiving my GED allowed me to pursue going back to college. I took my prerequisites for the nursing program in 2013 and this year I applied to the RN program at the North Campus. San Jacinto College is a college that I feel meets my needs for seeking a higher education. The professors are great and they really care for their students. My goal during the RN program is to learn the art and science of nursing and apply that towards my clinicals. Working with real patients is going to be an eye-opener to what goes on in hospitals every day. I hope to make my teachers proud and show them that their hard work in the classroom will reflect off their students success. I know that preparing for the NCLEX exam will be hard, but I’m willing to put the time and effort towards reaching my goal of becoming a nurse. After nursing school, I hope to work in a respectable hospital or clinic and gain experience working with patients. Eventually I would like to continue my education and enroll in a baccalaureate program. Today, advances in nursing allow for obtaining higher degrees. The process of learning, I think, is continuous throughout life and one should take advantage of all the graduate programs that are out
