Webster dictionary defines being successful as “accomplishing an aim or purpose”. In my eyes, this is what I strive towards every day. I want to live my life with “aim or purpose”. I want to be able to leave a lasting legacy; To be known as the girl who was easy to get along with, the girl who was always respectful, and the girl who was kind. I think it is important for me to be seen as these things because I care a lot about what other people think of me. Not as in if people like what I’m wearing or not, but the way people see me and my personality. I want people to remember me as one of the best leaders Louisville has had. Teachers can rely on me to show other struggling students the path to success. When we do group work in class, I can be counted on to help explain to a peer how to do something in a way that might work for them. Being able to help other students makes me feel dignified in a way that I am helping them be successful. Another way I am able to show my leadership in the classroom is by being respectful. By being quite and respectful to teachers during class discussion, I like to think other students look up to me and my behavior. Being a leader, some people are not going to like when you point out if they are doing something wrong. My freshman year, I had many choices as to what school activities and clubs I could join. Sports have always been a big part of my life, I have met many of my closest friends through sports and learned a lot of valuable life skills. Although it was very rare for an athlete to do both athletics and drama, I went against the statistics. I like to think of this as an act of leadership in a way. The culture of our school is changing now and I like feeling as if I help some of this year's freshman decide that it was okay to do and enjoy both activities. As a freshman, I juggled being in both one-act and sports. For the past two years, I have been stage manager for our one-act troupe. As stage manager, I am privileged with being able to help everyone backstage and direct them where to go. I am in charge of all of the backstage controls and setups.
