Food Science and Technology is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing disciplines of interest in recent years, due to increase awareness by the majority of the global population of the foods being consumed. In past years, professional degrees have been the degrees to be most desired with the impression that a job is guaranteed after graduation. That misconception is changing at a faster rate, with degrees in the biotechnologies and engineering taking over. I learn better when I am actually looking at what I am reading rather than imagining it. This hands on aspect better provides the opportunity to pass on the information and allows for a better explanation to the next person, which is important when it comes teaching and academics.
