A leader is one who does not go through life. Rather, he lets life go through himself. Leadership is a product of this passage of life. A person develops the dynamic trait of leadership throughout his life. It is all about how one handles the obstacles in life. A good leader is able to conquer any obstacle, including the opinion of other people. When someone stands up for what he believes in, despite the chastisement of others, he becomes a stronger leader. However, standing up for what one believes should not be confused with going against others. A leader cannot be someone who stands completely alone. By its very definition, a leader is someone who leads others. Leaders do not only build themselves up, but also those around them. There are plenty of bumps along the way and things are bound to get messy at times. A leader is someone who is able to surmount the troubling times in his life and come back stronger than ever. When I was eight I went from being a “husky” 80-pound child to skeletal 50-pound child in under a month. I was then diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, an incurable bowl disease that was the cause of my drastic weight-loss. I was hospitalized and operated on so much that I became well known among the nursing staff. I missed nearly half my school year but was still able pull out straight A’s through hard work. Eventually I was able to get my disease under control with medication, but my doctors always liked to tell me that is was my high-spirited personality that helped me conquer my malady. I was so healthy after my bout with Crohn’s Disease that I was able to join the school football team. I continue to overpower my obstacle and whenever it takes me down, I come back stronger than ever. Crohn’s disease is not the only obstacle I have had to deal with in my
