As a junior at Brooklyn Technical High School, I have picked Software Engineering as my major. My academic interests are within my mathematics, science and technology classes. Learning computer science is essential in the digital era we live in today. Technology is an important part of my life and I am looking for a career in the technological field. At school, I am learning to code in html and building circuits in Digital Electronics. As I was starting my major classes, I was worried about not being able to keep up due to the level of difficulty. My parents also thought it was not the right major for a girl because for them, working with technology was a guy’s work. I hope that with my interest in the technological field, I would be able to connect with more people through technology. It would be extremely honoring to be involved with all the technology advancements that will change the world and affect future generations. Although I cannot imagine being the person to make a technological breakpoint, it is imaginable to be involved with the creation process and feel like I am part of something bigger. I hope that my interest in technology pushes me to be an amazing engineer. In my web development class, we learned how to create the code behind websites, giving me an insight to how different websites work. Due to the class, I found a profound respect for programmers due to the level of complexity involved with the development of websites and the different components. Although I am not quite sure where my future lies, I believe that it will be impactful. I hope to explore different careers in the technological field in the future to see which one suits me the best. I hope to learn more programming languages to enhance my skills as a
