We are surrounded by science and technological advances all around us, and the
mechanics of these devices continue to excite me. SECME has influenced my life greatly. I have a older sister that is a web developer and her degree was in IT. I remember watching her and my parents use boxed computer monitors and televisions, but later watch them grow thinner. I watched them wack the sides and top of the boxes to make them work better, while I wondered what was inside. Not knowing that the world inside the devices was not the people on the screen but the inner workings of the devices. Science has given me the opportunity to further my knowledge of the Earth and the known Universe. I remember watching space shuttles launch on the news and thinking that is something that I wish I could do. I have learned things in my middle and high school Science classes that applies to everyday life like, “Why leaves are green?” or the question every child wants to know is,”Why is the sky blue?”. Science has given me knowledge about things like, force and motion, speed and acceleration, velocity which I have had the opportunity to explore through various school science projects. In researching the field of Software Engineering, I’ve learned that a Software Engineer is an engineer that tests software, makes instructions for software, and works with developers to solve the problems of different needs.This career appeals to me because of my love for technology and my appreciation for software and computer developers. I can see myself in this field all of my life.
