For my Capstone Project, I chose the career as physician assistant. I worked hard throughout the year to make sure I make a good grade on the Capstone Project. I job shadowed at D.D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in the pain management unit. I spent most of the time observing my mentor while she performed check-ups on her patients. Also, I saw my mentor give injections to patients to help with pain.
HOSA created a structural foundation for my entire senior year. My interaction within HOSA helped me realize what I wanted to do for my career and furthermore, helped me realize that becoming a general practitioner most fits my requirements of desire. Debate and mu-alpha theta became the walls and skills that embraced my foundation, helping me solidify skills that I would need for the future. As I placed in state for debate, I learned communication skills and inter-relational skills that I would have never had the chance to form before. I managed to maintain connections from Wisconsin to New York back to little old Texas with a party of 5 for a year and even more importantly they have become friends that I have learned to trust.
I have known for years that I wanted to work in the realm of health science. I knew that I wanted to do something in sports medicine. When I took a deeper look into sports medicine I learned that there are many areas of sports medicine that you can get licensed in and that the sports medicine part would be a specialty to attach to it. So I took the list as started to look through it at each job that plays an affect in the sport medicine area. I narrowed in on Physical Therapy and then took the time to do some shadowing in it for my senior study.
I began my undergraduate education at Colorado State University in 2004. I declared my major as Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. At this point in my life, I had no clue what I wanted to do for my career and thought this would be the best option and give me the most diversity of career options. Going into my sophomore year, I began a job in the emergency department at the hospital located in the college town. During my first day, I got to see a variety of emergent and non-emergent medical procedures.
Many people do not have the good fortune to have an education, and to have a continuation of learning is a blessing. I am majoring in Psychology with the hopes of one day becoming the best psychiatrist. I started attending college at Richard J. Daley as of spring 2014, and I must say it was quite different than my high school experience. College has made me more independent, but my first semester was quite difficult. I am now currently in my second year of college, and I am paying out of pocket.

Ever since grade school, I was passionate about working in the field of medicine, and science. I enjoyed anatomy, medical spelling and terminology, and reading about the healthcare industry. Because of my passion for healthcare, I decided to to attend Health Sciences High. There, I was given the best opportunities, such as, medical internships and college health courses. My plans and goals had turned me into a mature young adult.
As I grew older the interest turned from animals to people. So, when I began my college career at eighteen I decided to pursue a degree in nursing. In my second semester, I had a very heavy course load and happened to withdraw from a Nursing course. In doing this I forfeited my nursing career with my University. During my third semester, I decided to revisit my childhood dream and switched my major to pre-veterinarian studies.
Graduating from high school and entering college made me realize that I had to concentrate on myself, my goals and my ambitions. Between high school and college I started developing a new mature attitude. My goals and aspirations as I grew up also changed. In high school my main goal was to graduate high school and attend a university. Now that I am a college student I am focusing on reaching new goals and one of my main focus is to graduate college and pursue my degree.
As an aspiring healthcare professional, I constantly seek the thrill of problem solving, especially from a scientific standpoint. One of my many interests includes a strong affinity towards the field of the unknown. With the plethora of opportunities granted to me over my high school years, I have been eager enough to explore the different realms of science and build a passion for medicine. A truly spectacular memory was the first time I set foot in an OR room. I still recall the pit of nervousness at the bottom of my stomach as I walked into the sterile room occupied with important people I hoped to be one day.

Juniors in high school are expected to have an idea of what they want to do with their lives. My plan for myself then was to become a physical therapist. I entered the Lewis and Clark nursing program in hopes of being one step ahead for achieving that goal. However, that dream was soon awakened with a reality check. While going through this program, I learned I still wanted to help people, only not physically.
Some years later I entered high school; this was a huge slap in my face. I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. I went through my freshman and half my sophomore year barely passing my classes. About half way through my sophomore year I saw a newspaper ad for a vocational school in the area. I had always cooked at home and loved it
In the fall of 2017 I began my graduate career in Public Health at the University at Buffalo. Originally entering with an Epidemiology concentration I soon realized I had a keen interest in Health Services Administration. While obtaining a solid background in all the core public health areas my class Introduction to Healthcare Organization provides a great basis for business administration discussions to arise. In this class we focus on current issues in healthcare and policy level actions that could be used to address the issue. A Master’s in Business Administration can provide a critical aspect of the business and economic forces that drive the ability to implement such policy level actions that are appropriate or suggested by public health
Colege has transferd better work habits directly into my everyday life. College has taught me so much already.
