Every day around the world there are innocent animals that are hurt, punished, and tortured. For the past 100 years, animal testing has been a huge part of the human research. However, animals are living creatures that should be treated with respect and care. Without said, animals shouldn’t be a test subject for human research
Instead of scientists using animals for testing, they could use an alternative test subject. Living tissues will benefit from computer simulations but there methods of research that involve living tissue that doesn’t put innocent animals at risk. Prior to beginning a study, scientists have considered alternative methods but can’t be done without animal models. Drugs that work for animals usually won’t work for humans. In 2004, there was an estimate that 92% of drugs that are passed on animals won’t work for humans. “According to neurologist Aysha Akhtar, MD, MPH, over 100 stroke drugs that were effective when tested on animals have failed in humans.” Also, a study published that 150 clinical trials of treatments to reduce inflammation have been undertaken, and all of them failed, but succeeded for animals.

So after all animal testing does help after all. However, lots of money is put into research. “Caring for an animal requires a large investment. Some of the animals that are used for testing are bought at auctions or taken from the wild, which brings additional cost into the process. According to Petfinder, the total cost of caring for a single dog could be over $9,000 per year.” Even though there’s been a huge success on research with animals it still is bad to test
