There is a saying, 'you are what you eat'. In today's society, do we really know what we are eating? What makes up the food we eat? Over the years there has been a new process that many companies have used, when manufacturing out food. This process is called genetically modifying, GMO for short. If something is not organic than it is GMO. What does this process involve? Well this is when the genetics of your food is "modified" or manipulated by genes from other foods, chemicals, and hormones. These kinds of foods can cause health problems for you and your loved ones. Yet, still the government allows such foods.

A person might ask, "How can GMO affect my health?". Due to the chemicals and hormones used to create GMO foods, many who consume them can be affected. These foods have been known to cause brain fog, and hormonal imbalance. If our hormones become imbalanced, this can lead to many other health issues such as obesity as well as cancer. Genetically modified foods have been linked to many health problems including digestive problems, cancer, birth defects, Alzheimer's disease the list goes on and on. With all these these cons to GMO foods why do people still buy them? The answer is simple, the government has made so that there foods are cheaper than organics. So people …show more content…

For instance just the fact that the United States government allows this kind of food should be a red flag. The US government has done a wonderful job at protecting it's citizens from harm from other countries or political groups. However, they still see no need to protect their citizens from these toxic foods. In fact in March 2013 President Obama signed an act allowing GMO foods to be allowed all throughout the country.
