Marijuana or cannabis, more commonly known as weed should be legalized in all 50 states for various reasons. It is a great drug and could help many people keep their lives. It could and will also reduce other illegal drug uses such as opioids. Legalizing marijuana will boost the economy in a great number of ways. Why not legalize one of the best drugs in the world today? To begin, marijuana is a good drug and could help very many people. Marijuana is less harmful to the body than alcohol and tobacco. Marijuana can help people struggling with stress, anxiety, and ptsd greatly. It can also help cerebral palsy and other neurodegenerative diseases such as MS and Parkinson's. Neurodegenerative means that it decreases the neurons, usually in the brain. Studies have shown that inhaled marijuana helps with neuropathic pain, which is pain caused by neurons in the brain. It should not be categorized with cocaine or heroin but as a recreational drug such as caffeine or tobacco. It is also the most used illegal drug on the market. On average about 116 people die every day from opioid related drug overdoses. Xanax is used for anxiety and panic disorders, weed can help with both of those disorders. Americans consume 80% of the worlds painkillers, which is equal to about 110 tons of opiates and we could limit that grealy with marijuana. Furthermore, marijuana legalization boosts the economy. Legalizing marijuana(noun) will create thousands of new jobs in the marijuana industry and will end the costly enforcement of marijuana laws and free up police resources(noun). It will impact tax revenue greatly. In 2015, Colorado collected more than 125 million dollars in taxes and med fee sales totalled over 996 million in whole state combined. Those two things combined, prohibition enforcement and tax revenue, would make approximately 13.7 billion dollars
