Marijuana legalization has been an on-going debate and there has still not been a resolution. There are many reasons of why marijuana should be legalized. The legalization of marijuana has many benefits for society. Over 750,000 individuals are arrested a year for marijuana possession. There are over twenty-five million individuals that use marijuana annually. Adults over the years have showed that it can be used without harmful effects to individuals or society. Marijuana is used everyday and the only thing you hear people getting arrest is for its possession. You never hear that someone has hurt someone influenced by marijuana. It is unfair to treat marijuana users harshly in the eye of the law than a tobacco user or alcohol user. With marijuana being illegal, it makes it more valuable than it being legal, and with it being illegal teenagers can sell it for easy money. With the legalization of marijuana , hemp would be legal. With hemp being legal, you can make paper, plastic, clothing, and other helpful things. With hemp being legal and with it being able to make paper, we can save trees. We could make clothing out of hemp. We could make clothing for kids who are in serious need of them for a cheap price. Hemp is used to make thousands of things. The very nutritious seed can make flour, cooking oil, and also cattle feed. This could reduce America’s dependence of fossil fuels which would also majorly mitigate climate change.
