Laws of the Road
Half asleep Taylor Sauer thought she could stay awake by chatting with her friend on Facebook every minute or so when BAM!! Taylor’s car slammed into a tanker truck. (Heussner) In the same poll published by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety 47% of those same people that took the poll have admitted to texting while operating a motor vehicle. (Texting While Driving) This shows that the ban is not effective in states where it has been placed, and instead of reducing crashes people have admitted to texting even more after the ban. Another example that shows that the laws passed in some states show they have not reduced crash rates is that current laws banning texting show that they have not affected peoples driving habits. In states that have already banned texting the number of people who have been texting and driving has gone up instead of lower. (Heussner) We can infer this will be the same case for other states that have not made laws banning it
