Why School Should Start Early
Who likes getting up at 5 or 6 in the morning? Getting ready for school and not even having time to get ready or being really tired saying, “5 more minutes” but really an hour passes by and your super late to school. Well I don’t think anybody likes that because we need the right amount of sleep everyday. We need to be energized throughout the day to be able to do things. If you're in school you would need to focus and to focus you need to energy to be awake.
Students are not getting the right amount of sleep, and that’s what they need in order to succeed and being able to focus during school hours. The average time school should start at should be around 8 to 9 a.m. If school started at this time, the rates on students succeeding would go up. Research tells us that there is evidence, “teenagers are indeed seriously sleep deprived. About 60% of children under the age of 18 are saying they are tired during the day, and about the 15% of children are saying that they fall asleep during school hours.” (Cold, Flu) Sleeping is like food for your brain, it’s important for your body. And breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? I remember schools telling us to eat healthy for the day. Yes the schools may give you a opportunity to give you breakfast for free, but think about the kids who are in a total rush and aren’t able to go to the cafeteria to get something to eat. Breakfast kick starts your metabolism, helping you burn calories throughout the day. It also gives you the energy you need to get things done and help you focus at school.
