The Common Core State Standards believes that it successfully prepares students’ academic careers to enter college and businesses with clear guidelines to decent test scores. However, with the lack of flexibility and creativity, there is always a limitation that students can learn from the scripted lessons. Although scripted lessons can ensure student’s academic achievements, students learn more from their experiences like projects that require creativity. Consequently, the educators must consider that an individual has different learning styles and different paces of learning. No one ever said school was easy. It takes quite a bit of hard work and preparation from both the students and teachers. All within a school year there are different homework, assignments, projects, tests, quizzes, presentations and much more to try and fit into an already busy course schedule. To add to that the Education Reform Law of 1993 was introduced to schools, which required that all public school students have to be tested in the subjects of English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science and Technology Engineering. Those set of tests are called Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) and they are meant to measure students performance based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework.

Is the Common Core Good or Bad for Educators and Students? The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) were designed to help students become more independent when it comes to learning and allows students to gain an understanding of different perspectives and cultures. The CCSS also allows students to shape themselves to learn more content knowledge and utilize evidence more effectively, and enables students to become more efficient when using technology and digital media (Allyn, 2014).
By having all the standards the same all the kids that move around, won’t have to start learning a new standard every time. Also by raising it will challenge kids to improve their learning skills, and new ways of thinking. Once again, by doing this it would ensure that high-school graduates are college ready (“The Politics of”). When these standards are applied the right way, it will help kids achieve a state of higher learning. Furthermore with this higher level of thinking it will show more creativity in the classroom, which will carry out with them into adult life.
Throughout the years, the United States has been perceived as falling short in comparison with the rest of the word in education. Educational standards around the globe continue to grow, evolving strategic procedures that enhance motivation and raises expectations. The United States must begin to promote higher standards, assuming it still wants to be considered a competitor in education. For this reason, implementing a system will allow pupils to achieve success, as well as contribute great benefits to the United States. Common Core State Standards (CCSS) is a program decidated to developing high-quality academic standards, which fine points what K-12 students should have acquired by the end of the school year.
On the pro side, Common Core Standards measure what matters for college and career success; it can help students to create more equal access to an excellent education. One of the important roles is for students to understanding better and have a higher-order thinking skill. The ELA standard should shift the emphasis of K-12 English education from "memorizing facts" to the development of more meaningful "critical thinking" and "higher-order" skills. This will lead to more "strict" demands on students and better training them for working in twenty-first century. In this mode, the vague concept of critical thinking seems to replace the requirement for students to accumulate the true knowledge of the subject.

Teachers should be using testing to help them accommodate in the classroom to the child’s development and growth. Having a nationwide curriculum helps students who may have moved not be at a disadvantage for schooling. Technology has also become a norm for the average student. Connecting things students like to learning can create a positive learning environment. The Common Core Standards are meant to provide a clear understanding of what are expected from the students.
Educational systems are tasked with the strenuous and demanding task of preparing young minds to leave an impact later along in society. Schools are largely regulated by local organizations whose main priorities fall under organizing the funding, courses, and assets needed by these institutions. By providing adaptive materials, tools, and resources, these systems have a chance at fostering an appropriate and upstanding environment for the education of youth; a chance that America has yet to take. The United State’s educational systems’ shortcomings are demonstrated via the consequences of government funding, nonadaptive classroom structures, and the declining rates of college enrollment. One of the arguments about state testing is how state standardized tests affect the amount of money that school is given based on how many students pass. The more students who pass the test help get the school more money and the more students who fail prevent the school from getting the money it needs. Standardized tests exist for administrative, political, and financial purposes, not for educational ones. Students all around are being defined as a person on how well they did on the SAT/ACT and how high their GPA was in high school. Standardized tests shouldn’t define you because maybe you are not a test taker, not everyone is good at academics, and maybe you were stressed out over these state tests because you know you would be defined on your test results.
