Throughout my life one thing has never failed to fascinate me, the construction industry. Economic growth and the development all rests within this industry. My immense interest and transferable skills such as being able to work logically and efficiently has drawn me towards a degree in Project Management.
Studying level 3 in Btec science has equipped me with skills that will be of great benefit within the construction industry. Such a course has provided me with a practical and logical way of thinking and increased my efficiency and creativity when tackling issues and allowed me to solve them in the most productive manner, which is essential when working within this sector. This course has also improved my ability to work with numbers accurately as we often work with units of measurements during experiments and lab work, this skill translates into the construction sector because I will be confident with unit conversions such as millimeters to meters when asked to follow instructions from a drawing. Another skill which this course has provided me with is the ability for me to work independently without constant guidance, this fits in with studying at university as I know independent study is a major part of obtaining a degree. Meeting deadlines has been a major aspect of my course and I believe I have developed the ability to meet deadlines efficiently, this will translate well in the construction industry as I believe I will be required to work to tight deadlines, as time is money. Studying both Computing and Technology at GCSE shows that I am computer literate and am familiar with software’s such as excel and Auto CAD/CAM which are vastly used within this
