Reflection On My Writing

Throughout this semester, I have learned a lot about my writing. How this course was set up, helped me see where my strengths and weakness lie, and it also pushed me in ways other English classes have not. The first step was to develop a paper using only my ideas, without research guiding my topic choices. In comparison, this format required me to really consider what I wanted to convey to my audience. Throughout out this process I learned that I can convey my thoughts, find research that supports my ideas, and incorporate my research while keeping true to my original ideas.

I think it is my best work because I put the most thought into this essay because it presented the greatest challenge to me. I had all of my ideas, but I needed to incorporate my with a purpose in an organized manner. I think I did that well by paraphrasing different information and incorporating into sentences, so there were not just quoted sentences placed throughout my paper. Also, I think the addition of signal phrases played an important role. As I discussed earlier, this is something that is difficult for me, but I think I was able to accomplish it in my final revision. I think my audience is able to understand my argument through my ideas, which is supplemented through well-placed research. Additionally, my favorite section of my second essay is the abstract. I feel my abstract clearly states the importance of interprofessional education and it gives the audience a preview of the paper’s main points. I like how it provides just enough information that it may interest people, especially with the example given about the miscommunication.
