Along with the critical essay I have written in my English course, I have obtained skills to guide me through the writing process. Some skills include prewriting, organizing, composing and revising. With attention to Document 4, I conducted research on a subculture through an online platform. By doing this research I have obtained skills such as to gather information and present the information through my essay with an awareness of my audience. Following this, Document 5 helped me organize my quotations along with the reflection of each of the class readings. By using this organizer, it was easier to locate quotes that I wanted to use to integrate them into my essay as evidence to support my argument and prove my thesis. Consequently, Document 6 demonstrated that I participated in a reading tutorial that allowed me to see my mistakes by having my classmates and professor critique my work and give me feedback on my draft of the critical essay. In Document 1 it showed my ability to properly use rhetorical appeals, such as pathos, to a specific audience in a piece of writing. On this document, we were asked to question our interviewee about their struggles and successes of the American Dream. Specifically, my interviewee had struggled to achieve his American Dream. With this, I was able to use this part of the interview into my field report to demonstrate pathos. From an excerpt of my field report, I stated: “... his parents made him wake up at four o’clock every morning in order to feed the animals before walking to school for forty-five minutes every day.” After stating this as a rhetorical appeal, I then stated: “...his childhood surprised me the most because it demonstrates the difficult obstacles he had to face
