At the time, I did not think my writing was special, but through him, I gained the confidence to improve my persona. Under his guidance, we saw an exponential growth in my writing skills. Throughout the two semesters, I was assigned a variety of essays that required different skills such as analysis, critical thinking, and comparing/contrasting.
During this semester of taking English 102, I believe I have improved to some extent. In the beginning of this year I was hoping I would change the way I wrote my papers, so I could sound more like a college student. Learning how to incorporate Rhetorical Tools, researching the topics, and coming up with how to organize my paper are some concepts that have helped me grow. Continually have assignments due, were a lot of time and effort, but helped me practice and grow furthermore into the writer I would like to become.
The places I grew as a writer in my opinion is organizing the text. From starting at my claim then having textual evidence stuff supporting my evidence and then lastly my conclusion. Another place I think i improved is sentence fluency i think that way because in the beginning of this year i didn't read aloud my essay or writing and there would some kind of a miss wording because i'm trilingual. As a writer i can type way faster than i could previous years.
When I began the writing process for this assignment I did not know what I was going to write about. I started by thinking about every writing practice that stuck out in my educational career. Eventually I ran across the experience that I had with my sixth grade teacher and how detrimental that was on my writing ability and thought process. As I began to write this essay, I started to relay memories that I almost nearly forgot.
My writing style and preference was represented in many different class assignments throughout the year. In these, I saw that I wrote in a more creative and stylistic aspect compared to the standard essay format. While there were many flaws in each piece of work, I’m currently most proud of my use of symbolism, allusions, and the dramatic effect I used in the assignments. They all contribute to the overall style of my writing, for I write with the intention of embedding emotions and symbolic messages within the text. For that reason, I most enjoyed writing the feature article, as I am considerably passionate about topics relating to conformity, and I had a lot of freedom while writing it; human emotions and psychology always interest me in
I can write a paper now and know how to edit myself, along with making sure it is college level work. I feel I have a better understanding of writing papers, although, there are places still where I could have improvement. For example, I could improve on my vocabulary. When we were handed a list of words college students should know, I had no clue what any of the words meant, but now I have a larger wide spread
I have learned how to work under pressure and pay attention to details as well. I gained confidence and began to believe in myself and what I was capable of. Before my two years of AP English, I never would have pictured myself reaching the points that I was able to throughout my two years. I not only improved my mentality throughout the past two years, but I also learned how to enhance my writing skills.
5 Writing Lessons from Best Seller Authors All successful authors are known for their creativity and commitment. When he signs a contract, the writer will be wholly committed to complete the work within the deadline assigned. Hoping for having more time to write the article make the writer weak in his writing skills and the publisher cannot have that writer for a longer period. When a task is given to paraphrase a poem, the writer can use the tool paraphraser or the rewording tool that help in better writing.
When reflecting on this school year I see how much I have improved. From my first writing to now. I see that now I write more fluently. I have learned how to write in MLA and APA formatting. I have learned how to delegate myself from distractions when writing.
I took the quiz on relativism and learned some things about myself. Question number 2: What is morally right or wrong is relative to the situation. My answer to that question was yes. I agreed with moral relativism (Chaffee, 2013). I believe if you have an abortion for medical reasons it is okay.
Throughout the term there has been many writing assignments —big or small— that helped reflect my writing process or the process itself. In the beginning of the course I felt like I was an “ok” writer, but lacked some skills such as: organization, sentence variety, and vocabulary. Also, I did not like to write and had a feeling of dislike when forced to write. I felt like I improved on everything I wanted and was seen throughout the semester. I know how to organize my ideas, the worksheets given in class to work on sentence variety really helped, and vocabulary was built on some level.
I chose the simple task of writing my name five times consecutively. This activity was easy enough to complete, however it was very difficult to get consistent quality each time I wrote my name. At first I was able to write with ease while doing the task normally and with one eye covered. Although there was a subtle difference between normal and one eye. Normally my letters are spaced evenly however, when one eye was covered, some of my letters became connected by lines from the previous letter.
Subconsciously when writing a paper, I tend to always re-read information I already knew. Since this assignment was on the characters/ writing style of a short story, I had to make sure that enough information could be collected as well as summarized. For both of those factors, I had to be able to go back to the text and re-read the same parts to make sure that I get the right information. Not all people are like this, but for me honesty is a large part of everything for me, so I also need to be truthful when writing a paper or something similar. I cannot write everything I think and feel, it would take too long, so I must also keep track of the assignment and requirements.
The days are getting warmer, the grass is getting greener, everything is growing. As the spring semester comes to a close, my writing skills are developing. Like the buds on the trees, my skills are emerging. Instead of sunlight and water, my developing skills will need practice and review. Based on this perspective, the word that best describes my experience in my Advanced Composition class is “developing.”
ENG-122 Reflective Essay My writing process has changed tremendously over the course of this class. I feel more accomplished, confident and I feel sometimes that my ideas and thoughts just come in to my mind out of nowhere and I start writing about anything now. I pay attention to my punctuation and grammar more as I have polished them more now, not only when I write but then others write as well. I am constantly looking for errors and I highly think this is helping me a lot in my career.
