Romeo and Juliet is a classic piece of literature, and I read the story a few years ago as a freshman in high school. However, listening to Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet allowed me to picture the scenes in an entirely new way. The song started out slowly and quietly, and I thought that the music sounded like something that you would hear during a funeral or other church service. Therefore, I feel that this section of the music was meant to foreshadow future events. The suspense builds and reaches the climax at 1:80, where the music becomes very dramatic and dynamic is forte.
