I am eager to attend the USNA Summer STEM due to my strong interest in all disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. My future plan is to attend the United States Naval Academy, study Nuclear Engineering and serve my country for life. Over the past six years, I have served my country in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. I have accumulated a vast knowledge of the STEM field during my numerous week long trainings at Naval Base Coronado, MCB Camp Pendleton, SS Lane Victory, & Pt. Mugu Naval Air Station.
Since I heard about the National Junior Honor Society in sixth grade, I wanted to be a part of it because I have always wanted to make a difference in our community, and joining NJHS would help make that possible. I also want to become a part of NJHS because I want to make our school better, by helping students get more involved with after-school activities, like going to football games, and community service, even if it’s as small as donating a can or two to the food bank. I believe I can contribute both my optimistic attitude and my leadership skills to NJHS. My optimistic attitude allows me to never give up and hope for the best possible outcome of a situation, which helps me to finish projects with quality and effort before they are due,
When I think of theology, I instantly want to break the word down. I have a science background and understand unfamiliar words by looking at their parts. For me, theology is theo- or God and -ology or the study of. From this, I understand theology to be the study of God. Studying God is most familiar to me as something that members of the historical clergy had the freedom to indulge in all the time.

Hello! Welcome to the Jr. Honors Academy! We are so excited for an amazing year! My name is Crista Ponder, and I will be serving as the Jr. Honors Academy sponsor. I am the 8th-grade Science and Social Studies Teacher at Riverdale.
The STEM program would help me in achieving all of my goals and keep me on track to success. There
As a person that strives to build on new experiences and educational opportunities, I was very excited to learn about the co-op program provided by Ryerson University. I am very thankful to the professors and university staff that have promoted this program because due to them I was able to learn about this opportunity. As a going-on second year Accounting and Finance student, I see this co-op program as a chance to apply my knowledge and previous experiences to real-life scenarios in the professional business world. During my first year at the prestigious Ted Rogers School of Management, I started my university experience strong by managing my course load along with a part-time job and extracurricular activities. This hectic lifestyle has allowed me to
Malcolm X said, “ Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” The meaning of this quote is that if you have education and you go to school and learn you will have a better future. If you prepare yourself now and learn, tomorrow you would become better person. Without of knowledge you cannot accomplish anything. I decided to college so I can became better person tomorrow.
Within this program, I can apply what I learn in order to make a lasting impact on the STEM field. I also want to establish connections with my fellow
I think that of all the summer programs available, the Stanford Summer Institutes is the most rigorous and challenging, due to Stanford’s excellent academic reputation, which appeals to me. I want to attend the Summer Institutes because I believe that I can devote the most time to my passion this way, since other summer programs require choosing multiple courses instead of one. I am interested in Stanford as a future college as an undergraduate and a graduate, so going to the Stanford Summer Institutes would let me experience life on campus. I look forward to living on “The Farm” as well as engaging with a community of likeminded individuals who share my spirit and drive. I know that Stanford is very community-oriented, and I seek to share
I am honored to be nominated for Crestwood’s National Honor Society for the 2017-2018 school year. I feel as if I use these four characteristics every day. Scholarship is something that I take for granted. When I think of school, I think it’s easy and all it takes is doing your homework to get good grades.
By allowing students to come together for a common goal, it teaches them to exchange ideas in a healthy and productive manner. It also helps students be more open to the ideas of other people, even if those ideas contrasts their own. Furthermore, another area that a socialized environment creates unique opportunities in, is the hands-on learning provided through field trips and group outings. These outings encourage students to speak with and interact with professionals in their field, and in areas of academics such as science in history they provide outstanding opportunities to absorb their academic learning through interaction with the environments and in some cases locations that they are
I have always enjoyed my work in Science Olympiad and my participation as a Boy Scout of Troop 29, primarily due to the tangible results that represented a physical culmination of my time and effort. During my time participating in Science Olympiad, I always gravitated towards the engineering events, as these allowed me to apply my knowledge to a physical construct that I could design, create, and modify to achieve the greatest efficiency. Similarly, in my experience as a Boy Scout, I always most enjoyed helping with the Eagle Scout projects, as each of these actively worked towards creating a visible effect on the community, and my own Eagle Project allowed me to incorporate my interests in engineering and Scouting to develop a water conservation
This program membership will open new doors for me and make my high school and college experiences so much smoother. I think I will really benefit from having the college courses intermixed with my high school classes because I will be learning higher level information along with the high school work to challenge myself in Montco while having time in Pottstown High School to work on my electives. The program would keep me focused on
I also believe that I will enjoy learning about mathematics and other various subjects provided, and I will be able to share my experiences to my fellow peers. I think that this program is designed for me, because I love learning new concepts, and I love being challenged to think outside the norm. I also am very responsible and hardworking therefore I believe that I can gain more skills through this summer program. I am a type of person that can’t be just sitting around, and I love being involved whether it be something new or something I’ve already covered. I also love meeting new people
