Just pay them already?
Pro athletes and college athletes work hard basically doing the exact same thing, but guess what? One gets paid millions. The other gets put in debt! Can you guess which one is which? According to At Issue, from the SIRS data base, weather we should or should not pay college athletes is a big topic these days. College athletes put their bodies through thick and thin just like the pros but one gets paid and the other does not which in my opinion is extremely unfair. This paper will illustrate the pros, cons and my viewpoint on weather college students should be paid for their efforts on the court, field, etc.
First, the pro viewpoint is that college athletes can pull in just as much revenues pro players. Firstly, college athletes should be paid for their efforts. Firstly, college athletes work just as hard as the pros. College athletes have to play hard every time they are on the court because they are playing for a chance to enter in the pro leagues. Professional athletes play the same game as college players so why should they get paid and college players should not. College athletes also spend a lot of time on training and travel time for their sport plus they also have to focus on graduating. This takes up almost they whole schedule and leaves little time for a job, in which paying athletes for playing is a great way to help with that. Colleges do not need top of the line equipment to be successful. The money they use for overpaid equipment could go toward the college athlete to have a better future if he does not make it to the pros.
