As CEO of Sport Tight (ST) I believe there many key values someone must take in to consideration when having a good company. For starters a CEO must be able to handle business deals on what is best finically for a company. To accomplish this there needs to be emplaced a set of principles. Second, a good CEO should also have in place a strong sense of character and understanding of moral values. Only through balancing both do I feel a company can thrive and continue to grow. Lastly, this paper will dicuss a mission statement for our company’s future, and define what ST is truly about, what we do, and how we do it. The first factor is the ability to look past a messenger and focus on the message. For ST this can mean communicating ideas for the future in a group environment regarding all departments leaders. Most likely each department is going to have a different vision on what they think is most important for the company looking forward, but in this setting all ideas can be brought to the table to establish common beliefs shared by each department. For ST, I, and other department leaders, have found that we believe our products should be sold to the public in a fair, honest, respectful, and civil way. Secondly, we believe believe it is important that ST approaches ever issue of business from an ethical mindset, a concept we refer to as, “People over Profit.” We feel it of most importance to us to consider the needs of the consumer as our main priority in all situations. Through the use of quality business practices and balancing the understandings of social values we plan to continue growing not only personally as individuals bust as a company as well. Reasons we feel these principles are important and need to be in place, is so that we can effectively and efficient continue to grow our employees for both today and tomorrow. We believe that all of our employees should work with the character traits of trust, honesty, respect, responsibility, integrity, and justice. To help everyone in the company better understand how to effectively apply these moral values we have adopted the ideas of Robert Greenleaf. In the readings of Practical Ethics in Sport Management, Greenleaf defines a concept servant leadership. Servant leadership is a bottom-up view of leadership, that believes leaders build relationships with subordinates that will ultimately enable them to identify their talents and abilities as it relates to the purpose of the business. However, at ST we also feel that the best style of leadership is one in which every individual grows to his or her potential and every voice has value. So while leaders of the company still lead, we find it extremely important to consider all forthcomings from all parties. We therefore trust each of our employees to follow the same standards when dealing with other employees and department leaders. Respecting everyone’s opinions and point of views a required of all employees and if respect is not show there will be punishments. Furthermore, ST feels that all members are to show a great sense of integrity. If employees are not dedicated to being free of deception and telling the truth and situation arises where they are
