Unfortunately, some of the public school main objective becomes to constantly improve their performance simply because the local schools can use the extra money. This often leads to unhealthy competition among other schools. Columbia University quotes “standardized tests on high school students have evoked a mixed response. Strict schedule and tough screening process prove to be a torture for some students. “That means that lessons are not being taught to students in an effective timely way. The schools want to teach students what to expect on standardized test, so they decide to teach them what’s important on the test. Standardized test are also beneficial because, it allows students to stand out from each other, when it's time to apply for colleges or just to switch schools, and there are students who have the same GPA along with having extracurricular activities in common. The decision of them, getting accepted into the school branches off of their standardized test results. People tend to forget that standardized test are beneficial but not a one hundred percent effective way of measuring the performance of a student's education, it only shows how well students take a test. I believe not everyone is a test taker. It is not fair for someone who is well at taking test, to stand out more than someone who works diligently and manages to scores low. Regardless of how much you studied previously, anything can cause someone to score lower. Just to name a few, if a student gets into an argument with their guardian a night before an exam, it is possible the argument would throw them off the next day. Worrying about if your answer choice is correct may cause time to be lost and also may lower your score.
