You get to your locker to start putting in your locker combination and after getting out of zombie mode, you realized that there was a big standardized test today and you didn’t prepare for it at all. You ended up failing or barely passing. Schools worldwide have been using standardized testing, normally at the end of the school year, to test the knowledge a student has gathered from their classes. Schools and teachers' belief that this is a great idea, so they can measure the intelligence of a student. There can be many flaws in this idea. Many things can happen to affect the outcome of the students' performance on the test. Three articles, "Is the Use of Standardized Tests Improving Education in America?" By ProCon, " State standardized test scores: What Families should know." By GreatSchools Staff and, " Pros and Cons of Standardized testing." By office of Work/Life gives pros and cons about standardized being used in our schools. It can tell what the student had improved on and what they need improvement in. But they didn’t consider the other elements, effecting the students. The article, "Pros and Cons of Standardized testing." Has stated, "Standardized testing evaluates a student’s performance on a particular day and does not consider external factors." There extra factors can include stress, anxiety, and vomit. For young students, vomiting has been such an issue that the article, "Is the Use of Standardized Tests Improving Education in America?" Has included that, "Stanford-9 exam comes with instructions on what to do with a test booklet in case a student vomits on it." Even the school relies that this is a problem and still don’t fix it. They only solve how to deal with it and not how to prevent
