I have always been interested in the sciences and I have decided on this particular type of science because I am drawn to the way that medical examiners influence the living by studying the deceased. I love how these doctors have the ability to give answers to grieving loved ones. For example, when a person
I could remember vividly of how our family sat in the bleachers of Stevens Stadium, as we waited for my brother to be called. I was first introduced to Santa Clara University when I attended my brother's graduation ceremony in 2004. Having graduated from SCU, my brother, Rendy Soedarjo exemplified what he had learned there both implicitly and explicitly. His education at the Leavey School of Business equipped him the knowledge and skills that proved beneficial in his career in corporate finance, which inspired me to pursue the finance education, experience, and opportunities offered at SCU. It is through his successes and insights that I learned about Santa Clara University's courses, organizations, and socially conscious approach to education.
While I have always performed well in math, I really enjoyed the science classes that I took, especially AP Biology and Honors Biology. From a young age, I have always held a special interest in the complexities of the human anatomy and the functions of each part of the body. What I learned in Honors and AP Biology gave me a greater respect for the intricacies of living organisms and inspired me to further improve my understanding of the human body . In pursuit of my goal, I focused on medicine and related subjects in my academics. I studied biology extensively as a part of my school’s Academic Decathlon team and AP Biology classes, paying extra attention to subjects related to medicine such as anatomy and physiology.
My acceptance to Brigham Young University and my studies there have been a wonderful experience. Being a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I struggled with knowledge regarding primarily religious matters. The opportunity to be a student at BYU is something I am indeed grateful for. I had only been a member of the church for two months when I began classes; because of this, my knowledge of the Gospel has increased dramatically. The fellowship I was given as a new member was exceptional and the opportunities that have come because of my studies at BYU is appreciated.
Cal State University Northridge (CSUN) is one of the 26 CSU’s in California. The CSU system made me; similarly, I met my husband in the CSU system. Gallantly and green, I was the executive vice president for Cal State Fullerton’s Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) and I met with Sydni Powell, the president of CSUN’s ASI, every month at CSSA meetings. Whisked away by the beauty of Northridge I loved visiting CSUN and made The Matadors a home from home. With that, my undergraduate and graduate training have taught me that good interpersonal skills, the ability to take another person's perspective, and the ability to problem solve are crucial characteristics for a speech language pathologist.
The main reasons I am applying to Stanford GSB is to become a scholastic researcher writing for distinguished journals and a professor of Behavioral Marketing at a top U.S. university. Below I will outline why the unique combination of my personal characteristics, education, and research experience makes this objective realistic, and why obtaining a PhD from Stanford GSB will be an essential step towards accomplishing this goal. Passion for Marketing During my time as an undergraduate, I had great interest in learning marketing and consumer behavior. Courses such as Marketing Research, Consumer Psychology, and Marketing Strategy – working as a TA - have sparked interest in what constituted consumer behavior and I found great joy in investigating the factors that drove consumers in adopting or disregarding products. It has also bolstered my interest in finding out what the true nature of the consumer decision making process is and whether this is a conscious or unconscious process of reaching a decision.
It is with great interest that I submit to you my essay for an opportunity in the Center for STEM and Education Research program at Chicago State University. I attended Lebanon High School from 2012 to 2016. Throughout high school, I maintained a 3.9 GPA and filled my schedule with core classes along with dual credit, AP, and elective courses. I was accepted into Chicago State University the spring of 2016 and began my studies in August of 2016. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my first year of undergraduate studies.
Provide a brief explanation describing your interest in a living/learning environment and the particular program you are interested in. Be sure to include specific attributes you will bring to the position. Currently I am an associate in the CIVICUS Living and Learning Program. Through my time here at Maryland the program has truly instilled all five of its pillars within my ability to interact with those within and outside my program.
I am ready to return to CCU. Recent events have made that clear to me; and after some serious time in prayer, I want to finish my plan to get my Bachelor’s degree. I have used my AA degree from CCU during these past few years to excel in my career as first a Project Manager, then as a Territory Sales Manager. I have also utilized it as my position as the head of the household. I feel as though my OM/PM degree will only help me to continue becoming the leader He wants me to be.
I chose saint Mary’s Because I loved the location, the campus, and the opportunities it offers like the london program and the partnerships with the Mayo Clinic. Truth be told I did not look to hard at other colleges but if I did not get accepted into this school I would have attended The University of Minnesota or Saint Cloud State University. To me college means achieving the career I desire and the life that comes with it.
Clinical medicine and science are inherently inseparable entities. Scientific advances and discoveries will perpetually influence any career in the medical profession. This was an idea I learned early on during my undergraduate education. However, my own interest in science spans further than using it as a means to an end. The process of developing theories and conducting experiments enthralls me.
Overall, clinical science is extremely interesting to me, especially because I plan to become a clinical psychologist, and understanding the most appropriate therapies for various disorders would allow me to treat patients as efficiently and effectively as possible. My own journey with anxiety began when I was just eleven years old. I began researching anxiety disorders in an effort to better understand myself, and the more I learned, the more I realized that I found it all very interesting. As I went deeper to learn about other
In every unit, I tend to have more of an interest in the medicine aspect and how they help treat patients. The medicines and cures that have been created and used since the ancient times till now are something I really enjoy researching and learning about. Some of the hands-on experiences I’ve had in health science were first aid and CPR. Although it was all practical, it still gave the feel of a real situation and helped me understand information about the medicines and quick response and action needed for a patient in need. When we were doing first aid in health science we practiced with false
I am requesting a pre major extension as I await to hear back from the Computer Science and Engineering school. There are a lot of reasons why I desire this major, primarily it is a (relatively) newly discovered passion of mine. I have grown up with computers and have always worked on them, for most of my life I spent time working with hardware rather than software, and after taking a class in 5th grade I never really figured it would be something I liked. While originally attempting to acquire a Physics major when I entered college I was required to take two CSE courses. I loved them both, and very quickly found myself up most nights creating and coming up with handly little programs.
I am passionate about science contributing to a better world, which explains my interest in medical research. My mother, as a nurse, exposed me to a broad range of diseases from an early age which definitely sparked my interest for medicine. My father, on the other hand, suffers from sarcoidosis in the lungs and a mitral valve disease; which also contributed to my interest. I am particularly intrigued by cancer research. I have known many people affected by this horrible and engrossing (for a medical scientist) disease.
