The StrengthsFinder survey is a very informative and useful self-assessment tool. It analyzes 34 different talent themes, in which we can be categorized into and presents our top 5 talent themes to us. Essentially, these talent themes are our unrealized strengths (Clifton, Anderson & Schreiner, 2006). In order to excel in our endeavors, we must be able to identify and utilize these strengths. The StrengthsFinder survey identified Belief, Communication, Consistency, Connectedness, and the Includer as my top 5 strengths (Clifton, Anderson & Schreiner, 2006). Working for Nissan, I have the opportunity everyday to work with individuals from Japan, Mexico, and Germany. Therefore, having connectedness being one of my strengths is an extreme advantage for me. My next strength is the includer. Being strong in the includer theme means it is important to me that no one is left out and no one is ignored (Clifton, Anderson & Schreiner, 2006). In my job, I am required to work on complex issues. While working through some of these issues, it is required of me to gather a group of people with the skills necessary to complete the task. Being an “includer” makes this part of my job a little easier, as it allows me to recognize the need and include all of the necessary personnel. It is crucial that I involve everyone. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to take the StrengthsFinder survey. It has opened my eyes to some of my potential strengths. It will be more beneficial to me to redirect my attention from my weaknesses to more of my strengths (Clifton, Anderson & Schreiner, 2006).
