In order for a mission statement to reflect an organization’s true purpose it must address four key areas of service. The addressed areas include what the organization does, and how they achieve their goals (Hull, 2013). It must also address for whom they achieve those goals, and what value they bring to those they serve (Hull, 2013). HCA’s mission statement addresses all of these areas. HCA’s mission statement reads, “Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life. In recognition of this commitment, we will strive to deliver high quality, cost-effective healthcare in the communities we serve,” (“Our Mission and Values,” n.d.).
