In regards to the marketing environment, there are different forces that need to be considered. First, we must consider the competitive forces in the area. Our main competitor would likely be Little Bigs. Little Bigs is the only other bar that is 18 and up in the area, naturally, they will be our immediate rivals. Next we must consider the economic forces. In the bar and nightclub industry, there is little variation in revenue. Over the last nine years the industry as a whole has only seen a change in revenue of about 6%. One of the major legal forces that could impact Sharky’s would be the minimum drinking age. By being an 18+ bar we are able to direct our focus towards all of the college students that are in the area. We currently do not have any intention on who we are focusing on as our target market due to Little Bigs being directly across the street from us and being our biggest competition as they are they only other 18+ bar on the hill. As of now, we are currently positioning our product to the group of college students as stated before by making the bar a safe, inviting, and enjoyable atmosphere that this age group of people will want to come and spend their leisure time at. Due to the atmosphere that we are able to provide, it has been able to help keep our sales mostly consistent. We currently have no intention to change out product line, as we are already able to create a vast amount of drinks with the different types of alcohol that we are currently carrying. Our current pricing strategy is based upon our surrounding competition. The main price difference that we possess results from the cover that we charge which is double that of Little Bigs directly across the street. We have been able to keep this cover charge as high as it by having our business be more established than our new competition. The students of UNI know the atmosphere that we deliver and the fun times that are able to had within our establishment, making them willing to pay the higher cover to choose our bar over others. Due to this we do not have any planned changes within the foreseeable future due to the fact that what we are doing is currently working best for us as on now. The current distribution for Sharky’s is a neighborhood distribution. Our company uses indirect channels and an intensive distribution. Most of our competition comes from other companies located on the hill, and most likely have the same distribution methods.
