First impression is another key to make sure my students have a good school year. First impressions are not only important between the teacher and the student, but it is also important for the student to have a good classroom impression. I remember walking into classrooms for the first time and feeling nervous because there wasn’t any bright colors, or any welcoming images. I want my students to feel a sense of peace when they walk through the door, a sense of security. Having the child’s name placed on their chair, or their storage unit, will get them excited to see their name, and once again feel safe. Welcoming a student into a new classroom and showering them with warm words will make a child feel safe in that specific environment. I plan to do this often in my classroom.

I feel that all the factors above play a big role in how successful my classroom and my students are. I have mentioned behaviorism and teacher-centered educational philosophies, and I have also made them into my own. A teacher-centered classroom will have the teacher be the main focus and the teacher will lecture. In a student-centered classroom, there will be less lecturing and more open discussions. I feel as if I will incorporate both in how I teach. I am striving to be an elementary school teacher so not many open discussions of deep thought will be happening very often, however, I do feel it is very rewarding to me as the teacher and to the student to have discussions. When I observed first graders for the first time I was amazed at the amount of knowledge they already had. I feel like they want to tell the teacher what they know and they are so excited to share the information they are very proud that they learned. As the teacher, I feel when a child speaks up and gives an answer that they learned from me, I will feel completely
