I have always had a passion for teaching others helping with problems that they cannot solve but that I can. I know my willingness to help others and put them before myself is a trait I inherited from my mother. She was an Art teacher for many years at different districts and different grade levels until she became sick and was forced to retire. I loved hearing the success stories about her kids and the different awards they were winning in their art competitions. I loved seeing her excitement when she told me about a new project she had come up with that her students couldn’t wait to start. Being reasonable will help me to stay on track and not feel overwhelmed or discouraged. As a first year teacher, there is an endless amount as to what I can and need to learn. I think it is important for me to remember that during this first year, not only are my students learning from me, but also I from them. Being reasonable will also help me to stick to the subject area I am teaching and the content knowledge I have as a first year teacher and not feel superior to the experienced teachers that I hope to learn from. By organizing my life, I will prioritize everything that needs to be completed in the classroom on time and everything outside of the classroom so that I can relieve some of the stress of being a first year teacher and always stay prepared. My family is extremely important to me so staying organized will help me set aside time for them and give attention to their needs.
